Chapter 63: Laboratory Journal
The document contained over twenty gigabytes of data, and by the time the download was complete, it was already eight o'clock in the evening.
After preparing everything he needed to bring into the Digital Realm, Zhao Jie sat before his computer and began reviewing information on Tyrannosaurusmon.
Tyrannosaurusmon, a mature-stage Digimon, first experiment log on super-evolution.
"Among all known mature-stage Digimon, Tyrannosaurusmon's data is the most chaotic during the super-evolution process, but I am confident I can identify the factors causing its erroneous evolution."
"......"
"In truth, I failed; the data within its body is even more vast than I imagined. Nonetheless, I am confident I can find the correct evolutionary path within its gene database."
This was the first research on Tyrannosaurusmon's super-evolution. The digital researcher decided to start with its genetic data to uncover a method for successful super-evolution.
Many researchers had followed this approach, and by doing so, they had successfully discovered numerous evolutionary choices for Digimon.
This researcher, too, aimed to find a suitable evolutionary sequence for Tyrannosaurusmon by analyzing its genetic data.
In his notebook, Zhao Jie wrote down "database." With time still early, he continued to the second data entry.
"......"
"I failed again. The gene database within Tyrannosaurusmon is massive, larger than I anticipated—larger than any Digimon gene database I have ever encountered."
"But it's fine. I've devised a solution. This time, I will surely resolve this issue."
After reading the second experiment, Zhao Jie moved on to the third, eager to see what method the researcher had proposed.
"Haha, I am truly a genius. Tyrannosaurusmon's gene database is vast, granting it infinite possibilities. From it, I've found five gene sequences chosen during super-evolution by mature-stage Digimon."
"Now, all that remains is experimentation."
"I have arranged the five gene sequences from one to five. Currently, I am testing the first sequence—the Earth Tyrannosaurusmon's super-evolution gene. Before starting, I applied for an evolutionary item to assist Earth Tyrannosaurusmon in evolving, hoping to aid its successful super-evolution."
"The evolution proceeded much more smoothly than before. I thought I was about to succeed, but soon, the gene sequence mutated, and Tyrannosaurusmon lost control."
"One defeat is nothing; I can already see the dawn of success......"
"The second attempt failed as well. Did I take the wrong path?"
"The first sequence failed, the second failed, and the third failed. I feel lost, but I must persist. Two evolutionary gene sequences remain; I will surely succeed."
"......"
"In the end, my assumptions proved wrong. All five gene sequences failed. At the critical moment of evolution, each sequence became chaotic."
"I am abandoning further experiments. Because of my mistakes, four Digimon Tamers have died, one remains unconscious, and two are seriously injured. Now, I must enter the Digital Realm to atone."
After reading the three papers, Zhao Jie let out a deep breath; before he knew it, it was already one in the morning.
"Tyrannosaurusmon harbors an unimaginably vast gene database. Is it this database that causes the chaos during super-evolution?"
He quietly recorded the researcher's core insight.
"This is only the data from the first researcher."
Looking at these materials, Zhao Jie felt a persistent gloom in his heart. The challenge of Tyrannosaurusmon's super-evolution was one he had to overcome, no matter what.
But could he truly do it?
Right now, he desperately wished for a golden cheat—if he had one, this problem would be nothing more than a minor hurdle to earn shock value.
"Forget it. I'll continue researching after I return from the realm."
With a sigh, Zhao Jie shut down his computer.
The only bit of good news was that Agumon was still far from super-evolving; he had plenty of time to solve this problem.
......
Early the next morning, Zhao Jie took Agumon and left home, meeting Liu Cheng outside the residential complex.
"Young man, you should take care of yourself."
Seeing Zhao Jie looking a bit haggard, Liu Cheng winked and teased.
"Get lost."
Zhao Jie retorted with a smile, feeling a bit speechless.
What on earth was going on in this guy's mind? His thoughts were truly filthy.
His pallor was purely from spending the night pondering those experiments—definitely not from any age-inappropriate activities.
"Let's go, let's go. My dad's driving us today."
Liu Cheng grinned mischievously, giving a knowing look.
"Hello, Uncle Liu."
In the car, Zhao Jie perked up and greeted the founder of Little Raccoon Crunchy Noodles.
"Xiao Jie, it's thanks to you that Liu Cheng can go train in the Digital Realm this time. I really appreciate it."
Liu Tianxiong, Liu Cheng's father, said with a smile.
"It was all Liu Cheng's hard work. I didn't really do much."
Zhao Jie responded politely.
Liu Tianxiong simply smiled, saying nothing more. He knew his own son's abilities well—if Liu Cheng hadn't been gifted as a Digimon Tamer, he would have worried about him inheriting the company.
Soon, the two young men and their Digimon arrived at the entrance to the Digital Association. After a few words of advice, Liu Tianxiong drove away.
"Let's go."
After watching him leave, Zhao Jie and Liu Cheng entered the Digital Association.
Inside, several students were already chatting. When the two entered, they greeted them warmly.
"Hey, isn't that Wei? Your Lopmon is adorable."
Zhao Jie looked in surprise at Peng Wei, who was holding Lopmon in his arms. He hadn't noticed yesterday that this young master was also on the list.
"Thanks."
Peng Wei recalled the photo Zhao Jie had posted in the class group and his lips twitched. Still, they were classmates, and he could tell Zhao Jie meant no harm.
At eight fifty, Wang Zhi—the man they had met before—arrived.
"Is everyone here?"
"We're all here."
This was a rare opportunity, so everyone came early to the Digital Association; after all, if a traffic incident caused them to miss out on training in the Digital Realm, it would be extremely unlucky.
