Chapter Ninety-Five: Desperation
Seeing this, Lana Sha’s expression changed, and she hurriedly sent a warning by voice, but the green-clad girl and the young man in the pale blue robe were already too late to evade. Their first instinct was to rely on their respective supreme artifacts to block the blow.
Two enormous fists came crashing down like two little mountains pressing from above.
With two heavy bangs, the green-clad girl and the blue-robed young man were smashed straight into the ground. A moment later, both of them shot back up from below and hovered high in the air, drawing close to the other four.
“We were mistaken,” Lana Sha sent darkly to the others. “That giant is the Sovereign of Earth, not a human. In human form, his head would indeed be the vital point. But in his current form, his vital point is the core crystal. His soul is inside it, and his divine spark is there as well.”
“Haha, so that’s how it is,” the blue-robed young man laughed. “Now that we know his weakness, killing him will be simple.”
“I’ll use my innate divine ability one more time. After that, I’ll have to rely on all of you,” Lana Sha transmitted to the other five.
At that very moment, however, three streaks of light descended from the sky and struck at the six of them, with Qin Kun leading the charge.
Boom.
Qin Kun thrust out a palm glowing with golden light, striking directly at Lana Sha. Wherever that hand passed, space rippled like the surface of water.
Seeing this, Lana Sha’s face changed, and she dared not be careless. She hastily brought her arms together to forcibly block the strike, her whole body trembling as she was sent flying backward.
“Hm? A supreme artifact for physical defense?” Qin Kun frowned, then immediately sent a message to Mo Si. “Mo Si, let us join forces. Soul attack. Deal with that woman.”
In the next instant, almost at the same time, Qin Kun and Mo Si both unleashed soul attacks. A phantom sword-shadow of yellow-brown earth and a phantom palm imprint of gray-black darkness shot toward Lana Sha with lightning speed. She had no chance to dodge; both attacks plunged into her body.
Lana Sha shuddered all over, and soon her aura weakened as she fell limply downward.
“She’s dead? Such a powerful soul attack?” The remaining five all changed color. Lana Sha was among the strongest of their group, yet she had been killed so easily. Among them, only one possessed a supreme artifact for soul defense.
“Lana Sha!” The blue-robed young man and another young man in purple let out shrill cries of grief, then frenziedly charged toward Qin Kun and Mo Si. These two had been together with Lana Sha. The three of them formed a small team, so their bond was naturally deep. With Lana Sha dead, how could the two of them not go mad?
At the same time, Lei Jing also unleashed a violet crystal barrier to temporarily block Montero, then hurled the purple supreme-artifact javelin in his hand toward the green-clad girl.
The green-clad girl’s lovely face changed slightly, and she hurriedly raised her fists to block. Amid the deep thud of impact, her entire body shook and she was sent flying away.
Lei Hong surged with fighting spirit and attacked the aloof middle-aged man, Xiaswei, while Gaia also took the initiative and charged the silver-haired elder.
The fierce battle continued, but the situation had changed drastically. Just after breaking through the obstruction of the violet crystal barrier, Montero saw the scene of Qin Kun blasting the blue-robed young man to death with a single punch. Taking in the state of the battle, his expression changed, and he hurriedly sent an urgent command: “Stop fighting. Retreat at once!”
With Montero’s order, he was the first to fly away, and the others hastily disengaged as well, fleeing together with him.
However, the young man in purple still fought on frantically with Mo Si. With a supreme artifact for physical defense, he had no fear whatsoever of the destructive power of the black hammer in Mo Si’s hands. As for soul attacks, being skilled in the path of lightning, he was also quite adept in the soul. Mo Si’s strongest soul attack was still not enough to kill him.
“Hmph, Montero got lucky and ran fast,” Lei Jing snorted in dissatisfaction, then looked toward the young man in purple and called to Qin Kun, “Qin Kun, let’s strike together. Soul attack. Kill him.”
Qin Kun nodded slightly, and almost simultaneously with Lei Jing, they unleashed two terrifying soul attacks into the young man in purple’s body.
The young man in purple shuddered all over, his expression blanking for a moment. Then Mo Si seized the opportunity and unleashed his strongest soul attack as well, and like the last straw that broke the camel’s back, it sent the young man in purple plummeting from the sky, his aura rapidly fading.
“Damn it. We killed three people and only got one golden badge?” Lei Jing said somewhat unhappily as he landed beside Lana Sha’s corpse, picking up a golden badge from the ground. He then tossed it to Qin Kun. “You killed the man, so the badge is yours.”
Qin Kun accepted the badge with a faint smile, then casually tossed it to Mo Si. “Mo Si also made a move. This badge goes to him this time.”
Mo Si reached out and took the badge, glancing at Qin Kun, but said nothing.
As for the blue-robed young man and the young man in purple, they were both from the Dark Divine Realm’s side and both possessed blood-red badges, which were of no use to Qin Kun and the others.
After dealing with the golden badge, Lei Jing and Lei Hong left first. They still had to go find Lin Lei and Bei Bei. Qin Kun, Mo Si, and Gaia also quickly departed from the battlefield.
Soon after, Lei Jing and Lei Hong reunited with Lin Lei and Bei Bei. Not long later, they again engaged Montero’s side in battle, and the outcome of that clash was the death of Montero, the green-clad girl, Xiaswei, and the silver-haired elder alike.
This battle, however, planted the seeds of disaster for Lin Lei and the others. The Augusta clan would not move against Lei Jing, and killing Bei Bei would not be easy, but they would certainly not abandon their revenge on Lin Lei and Lei Hong. In order to ensure Lin Lei and Lei Hong were absolutely slain, the Augusta clan directly invited Magnus, the Great Perfection expert of Fate, to take action.
Faced with Magnus, Lin Lei and Lei Hong had only one choice: flee, and flee desperately. Unfortunately, Lin Lei’s luck did not seem to be very good this time. He tried to escape deep underground for a narrow brush with death, but Magnus still caught up to him and, using the power of the Sovereign of Fate, unleashed his strongest soul attack, leaving Lin Lei’s soul severely wounded and on the brink of death.
As soon as this battle began, Qin Kun sensed the disturbance, though he did not intervene. He knew that it was Magnus who had brought about Lin Lei’s rebirth through phoenix-like renewal. Without this near-death ordeal, there would never have been the Lin Lei who later transcended into the world of primordial chaos.
This was Lin Lei’s fate, the greatest opportunity of his life. Naturally, Qin Kun would not casually interfere and disrupt it.
But afterward, Lin Lei brought Mo Si and Gaia to the mountain hollow space where Qing Huo, Lei Jing, and the others were protecting him and temporarily staying.
“Lord Qing Huo, what exactly happened? How is Lin Lei now?” Inside the hall of the mountain hollow space, Qin Kun acted as though he knew nothing.
Bei Bei, who was nearby, explained the situation to Qin Kun in some pain, and after hearing it, Qin Kun sighed. “If I had known, I should have gone with Lin Lei and the others.”
“Even if you had been there, it would have been useless,” Qing Huo said, shaking his head. “That Magnus is a Great Perfection Highgod. Even you would not be able to contend with him.”
Qin Kun was silent for a moment before saying, “Then what do we do now? Do we just wait like this, waiting for a miracle?”
“There is nothing we can do. What else can we do? We can only wait and hope that a miracle truly happens,” Qing Huo said with a sigh as well.
Everyone felt rather heavyhearted, and almost no one believed that a miracle would occur. Sometimes, waiting was truly a torment. Though Qin Kun had long known that Lin Lei would be reborn from the flames this time, he could not help being influenced by the emotions of those around him.
In the midst of waiting, fifteen days passed before anyone noticed. The remaining Sovereign power from Magnus’s soul attack in Lin Lei’s mind was nearly exhausted, and his soulstone had only a little left. But then a sudden change occurred: Lin Lei’s soul mutated. A four-element soul mutation, something never heard of, with no precedent of success. Lin Lei seemed to have fallen into another desperate situation.
