Chapter 110: The Demon Emperor and the Demon Master
Faced with the aggressive assault of Daoist Yuantu, Di Jun could not help but frown. As the skirmish truly intensified, Di Jun discovered that the strength of Daoist Yuantu was seemingly no weaker than his own; it was highly probable that he had stepped into the realm of a Quasi-Saint who had severed two corpses. This realization caused Di Jun’s heart to sink, bringing with it a sense of mounting frustration.
To kill a Quasi-Saint who had severed one corpse was an entirely different concept from killing one who had severed two. Relying on the Chaos Bell in his hand, Di Jun was confident that a joint effort between himself and Donghuang Taiyi would make slaying a one-corpse Quasi-Saint not overly difficult. However, dealing with a two-corpse Quasi-Saint offered little certainty of success.
"This Old Ancestor Minghe, silent and unassuming, how has he managed to sever his second corpse so quickly?" Di Jun felt both depressed and bewildered.
Not far away, Donghuang Taiyi also realized that Daoist Yuantu was not easily dealt with. He hurriedly summoned the Luo Shu, launching it toward the back of Daoist Yuantu in an attempt to join forces with his brother, Di Jun, and finish off their opponent as quickly as possible.
"Hmm?" Detecting Donghuang Taiyi’s strike, Daoist Yuantu’s brows knit together. With a hurried flicker of his figure, he narrowly dodged the Book of Earth, then traced a graceful arc to continue his assault on Di Jun.
Donghuang Taiyi continued to maneuver the Book of Earth against him, forcing Daoist Yuantu to summon the Abi Divine Sword to parry. Simultaneously, the Yuantu Divine Sword slashed fiercely toward Di Jun once again. For a time, Daoist Yuantu, fighting two opponents at once, did not fall into a disadvantage.
Di Jun, possessing such a magnificent supreme treasure as the Chaos Bell, found himself unable to use it effectively against Daoist Yuantu. The more they fought, the more stifled he felt. Left with no other choice, he sent a telepathic message to the hidden Demon Master Kunpeng: "Kunpeng, strike now! Help me force Daoist Yuantu back so that I may unleash the full power of the Chaos Bell against him."
"Rest assured, Demon Emperor, watch me!" Kunpeng replied coldly. Suddenly, a colossal black bird descended from the nine heavens. Its wings, vast enough to drape across the sky, tore through the void and positioned themselves between Di Jun and Daoist Yuantu. With a violent flap, it caused the very space to tremble, slamming into Daoist Yuantu like a mountain of force.
Swinging his Yuantu Divine Sword, Daoist Yuantu shattered several scales on the creature’s feathered wings and was sent flying backward. He then recalled the Abi Divine Sword, which had been entangled with Donghuang Taiyi, and looked up at the giant black bird with a grim, cold expression: "Kunpeng?"
The next moment, the black bird vanished, transforming into a dark-robed Daoist with a hooked nose and a sinister aura.
"Hahaha... Old Ancestor Minghe, prepare to meet your end!" Di Jun laughed wildly, exerting his full power to drive the Chaos Bell crashing toward Daoist Yuantu.
Watching the terrifying might of the Chaos Bell descend, Daoist Yuantu’s gaze grew colder. He took a deep breath and channeled all his power into the Twelve-Petaled Red Lotus of Fire to shield himself. Simultaneously, surging magical energy poured without reservation into the Yuantu and Abi swords, causing both to hum and vibrate as they emitted sharp, space-tearing sword radiance.
*Clang!* Two deep, metallic sounds of collision rang out almost simultaneously, and the Chaos Bell shuddered violently, emitting a thunderous toll that shook the heavens.
*Hum...* A terrifying shockwave rippled outward, causing the surrounding space to collapse into chaotic turbulence. Daoist Yuantu was struck with immense force, sent flying like a baseball into the distance until he vanished into the horizon, while the Chaos Bell itself was sent reeling backward.
"What? He... he actually withstood a full-force strike from me using the Chaos Bell?" Di Jun’s eyes widened in disbelief. Even Donghuang Taiyi and Kunpeng, who had been waiting confidently to witness Daoist Yuantu’s miserable defeat, were stunned.
Immediately afterward, a furious roar thundered from the distant horizon, exploding like a clap of lightning in the ears of the three: "Di Jun, Donghuang Taiyi, Kunpeng, just you wait! This karma is set between us, and sooner or later, I will make you regret this!"
"Bastard! That wretched Old Ancestor Minghe, I will kill him!" Di Jun, recovering from his shock, bellowed with a hideous expression.
However, Donghuang Taiyi held him back. "Brother, do not be rash! We cannot keep him here, and trying to kill him within the Sea of Blood is simply unrealistic."
"Indeed! Demon Emperor, we miscalculated. We did not expect Old Ancestor Minghe’s cultivation to be so profound. Killing him is truly too difficult. Even if we could, we would pay an unimaginable price," Kunpeng added with a somber frown. "The Wu Clan is currently watching us like tigers stalking their prey. If we exhaust ourselves in a bitter fight with Minghe, the Wu Clan will certainly not pass up the opportunity to strike at our Demon Clan."
Though he burned with resentment and frustration, Di Jun heeded the words of Donghuang Taiyi and Kunpeng, taking a deep breath to suppress his murderous intent.
"Old Ancestor Minghe, I refuse to believe he can hide in the Sea of Blood forever," Di Jun muttered through gritted teeth, staring toward the direction of the Nether Sea of Blood, before preparing to return to the Heavenly Court with Donghuang Taiyi and Kunpeng.
In truth, it was impossible for Daoist Yuantu to hide in the Sea of Blood forever, nor did he intend to. The Daoist, who appeared to be fleeing toward the Sea of Blood, suddenly changed direction mid-journey, heading instead toward the Heavenly Court in the nine heavens. It was not Daoist Yuantu’s style to suffer a loss without exacting revenge. Since Di Jun and his cohorts dared to provoke him, they had to be prepared to pay a price in blood.
Daoist Yuantu spared no effort to traverse space, tearing through the void to arrive at the Heavenly Court ahead of them. After a brief scouting, he headed straight for the vault where the Demon Clan stored their various gathered spiritual materials and treasures. Stealthily infiltrating the treasury, he proceeded to pillage it thoroughly.
"Hmph, Di Jun, Donghuang Taiyi, just you wait! This is only the beginning. I will make you weep and regret ever becoming my enemy," Daoist Yuantu sneered. Leaving the treasury, he headed toward the vast encampment of the Demon Clan’s army. Today, he would unleash a massacre and turn the Heavenly Court upside down.
Above the nine heavens, by the banks of the Silver River, the allied camps of the Demon Clan stretched out, seemingly endless. Hundreds of millions of Demon troops were stationed there. It was precisely because of this massive population base and staggering military numbers that the Demon Clan could rival the Wu Clan without falling behind.
"Di Jun, you have offended me—prepare to weep!" A streak of light arrived above the encampment like lightning, transforming into Daoist Yuantu, dressed in dark red robes. Looking down at the scene below, a cold, cruel arc curled at the corners of his mouth.
The next moment, sharp, dark-red sword radiance swept toward the army camp like a ribbon of the Silver River. Wherever the rapidly expanding sword light passed, countless demons were ground into dust and scattered into nothingness before they could even let out a scream.
The entire camp fell into chaos, yet Daoist Yuantu’s assault continued. Each strike claimed the lives of thousands, if not more. Furthermore, he specifically targeted areas guarded by powerful Demon leaders, slaughtering large numbers of high-ranking officers at the Golden Immortal and Taiyi Golden Immortal levels.
"Stop!" Amidst a furious roar, a stream of flame shot over from the distance, transforming into a man in fire-red robes. It was the "Evil Corpse" avatar of Di Jun, stationed at the Heavenly Court. Seeing Daoist Yuantu wantonly slaughtering his army, his eyes turned bloodshot, his face flushed with rage, and he hissed through gritted teeth: "Old Ancestor Minghe!"
Daoist Yuantu looked at him and grinned. "Di Jun, did you not expect this? I didn't return to the Sea of Blood—I came to your Heavenly Court. Tell me, is this a pleasant surprise?"
"Old Ancestor Minghe, if you had hidden in your lair, the Nether Sea of Blood, I truly could not have done anything to you. But since you dare to come here and cause trouble, stay here forever!" The eyes of Di Jun’s avatar burned with intense killing intent. Before his voice had even faded, he flipped his hand to reveal a golden gourd. As the lid opened, a piercing golden light shot out; wherever it passed, the space itself warped and blurred.
Daoist Yuantu raised an eyebrow in slight surprise: "The Immortal-Slaying Gourd?"
