129 I Will Not Betray Her (Part One)
When Mu Qingcheng arrived at the gate of the Si family mansion, the bronze-colored wrought iron gate had already been opened to allow passage. She drove straight in without any obstruction.
By then, Si Bei was already standing at the main building's entrance, waiting. Seeing the car arrive, he stepped down the stairs to open the door.
Mu Qingcheng lowered her head as she stepped out. Si Bei glanced at her, slightly taken aback.
“Is Si Qingchen injured?”
At that moment, Mu Qingcheng’s mind and eyes were entirely focused on that man, so she did not notice anything unusual. Having developed a tacit understanding of each other’s identities, their conversation was much freer, with far less restraint.
Si Bei bowed his head respectfully and politely said, “Yes, the boss is resting in his bedroom.”
“Take me to see him.”
“Certainly, please follow me.”
With that, Si Bei led Mu Qingcheng inside.
Along the way, the Si family servants, upon seeing her, all showed slight surprise, then their expressions turned meaningful. They put down their tasks and greeted her respectfully, “Miss Mu, greetings.”
Mu Qingcheng hurriedly nodded, her demeanor completely distracted and dazed.
When they reached the bedroom door, Si Bei suddenly took a deep breath and said,
“Miss Mu, the boss didn’t know you would come... you…”
“Hm, I won’t betray Chu Bai... don’t worry.”
...
Si Bei stared at Mu Qingcheng in astonishment, and soon his expression grew somewhat awkward.
Mu Qingcheng chose to ignore it and pushed the door open, stepping inside.
...
Si Qingchen’s room was situated on the top floor of this old mansion. In fact, the entire floor was for his sole use.
Besides the bedroom, there was a gym and a study.
The style remained vintage, adorned everywhere with intricate, delicate vine patterns, exquisitely elegant.
Not ostentatious, yet exquisitely crafted—no ordinary artisan’s work.
At that moment, on the large bed not far away, a robust figure lay face down.
A thin black brocade quilt covered only up to his waist and abdomen. From his waist upward, a full, firm curve rose, revealing his muscular upper body.
Yet now, it was all wrapped in white bandages.
Mu Qingcheng’s steps faltered. Even from a distance, she clearly saw several dark brown bloodstains dried on the bandages.
It was not hard to imagine the severe, rampant injuries concealed beneath them.
Her hands clenched tightly by her sides. Somehow, she found the strength to move forward slowly.
Perhaps having heard her footsteps, the man resting lightly on the bed exhaled softly and spoke,
“Si Bei, bring me a glass of water.”
His voice was hoarse and dry, sounding especially weary.
Mu Qingcheng recalled that he had only recently been injured, and now with new wounds added, his body surely couldn’t withstand repeated trauma.
A flood of guilt surged instantly within her.
Like silken threads, it wrapped tightly around her heart, slowly constricting.
She lightened her steps again, approached a small table to pour half a glass of water, then picked up a straw placed beside it and inserted it into the cup before carefully returning to the bedside.
But Si Qingchen’s bed was enormous—so vast that even his sturdy frame left a considerable distance when lying down.
Mu Qingcheng couldn’t reach him. After hesitating for a moment, she slowly sat at the edge of the bed.
The slight depression beside her made the man frown faintly, but the exhaustion in his body kept him from opening his eyes immediately.
Yet, hidden beneath the quilt, his hands clenched tightly.
After a moment, a straw gently touched his lips.
The man parted his lips and took small sips.
When he had drunk more than half the glass, he spat out the straw and said,
“That’s enough.”
Mu Qingcheng straightened up and took back the cup.
But just as she turned, the man who had been quietly resting suddenly opened his eyes and simultaneously stretched out two strong arms.
