114 She Is Chu Bai (Sixth Watch)
The prestige of the Mu family in the imperial capital was evident to all. Moreover, the four brothers of the Mu family each excelled in their respective fields, having achieved remarkable success. The Mu family had practically monopolized every popular industry.
Although the gathered reporters were arrogant and overbearing, when faced with them, they still exercised some restraint. For instance, at this moment, when Mu Yao—the notoriously elusive figure—was openly challenging them, they couldn’t help but think twice. They were wary of stepping into any traps that might ultimately backfire on themselves.
So, for a long while, no one dared to respond hastily. They simply sat in silence, eyeing each other warily. Mu Yao, however, seemed to have anticipated their reaction and made no attempt to hide it, curling his lips into a smile. That devilish smile was laced with unmistakable contempt and an almost imperceptible hint of madness.
As everyone knew, when this great troublemaker smiled, someone was bound to suffer.
Yet, the blazing hot news was right before them—more tempting than a cooked duck ready to be devoured.
All the reporters gazed covetously at the scene inside the hall, while simultaneously wary of the “great troublemaker” before them. It was truly a situation where they could neither advance nor retreat.
After several minutes, one brave soul finally cleared his throat and said, “Cough, Mr. Mu, could you please tell us what your conditions are first?”
Mu Yao’s unhurried gaze turned toward him, causing the man to shrink back and step aside.
Mu Yao didn’t press him further and said bluntly, “It’s very simple. If I allow you in today, you may film the entire process. I won’t hinder you in the slightest.”
The reporters were stunned, some staring at him in disbelief. Yet, their eagerness to seize the opportunity was hard to conceal.
As expected, Mu Yao paused only for two or three seconds before continuing, “However, if the truth is uncovered later and it turns out our precious little sister has been wronged... then every media outlet present here must personally apologize to my sister on their front page. And these apologies must be published for a whole week. How about it? Deal?”
The man’s already devilishly handsome features were accentuated by the sudden, broad smile. His eyes gleamed with an unwavering determination, like a black fox stalking its prey—calm and deliberate. When it struck, there would inevitably be casualties.
At that moment, clear footsteps echoed from behind the door Mu Yao was blocking. The sharp tap of high heels grew closer step by step.
“What day is it today? All four Mu brothers are here?”
With a faint, sweet fragrance, a bright and cheerful female voice first reached everyone’s ears.
Soon after, a graceful figure appeared beside Mu Yao.
“Long time no see, Fourth Master!”
“Long time no see, Boss Chu!”
The newcomer was Chu Bai, the owner of this hotel. Five years ago, she returned from overseas, starting from scratch and building her empire in the imperial capital.
She was breathtakingly beautiful, and her skills were even more formidable. Yet her background remained a mystery, known to no one.
Now, upon seeing Chu Bai, the reporters instinctively toned down their demeanor. They couldn’t fathom how someone who was already captured on camera at the airport boarding a plane could suddenly appear here in the blink of an eye.
Chu Bai, her lips painted a vivid red, smiled generously and said, “Sorry to disappoint you all. With such a huge incident at the hotel, how could I just stand by and do nothing?”
The reporters were silent.
At this moment, Chu Bai glanced at Mu Yao standing beside her, gently linked her arm with his, and said, “Fourth Master, let’s go inside and talk. Standing out here all the time isn’t good for the hotel’s reputation, right? I’m asking you.”
Her tone was skillfully measured—sweet and soft without crossing into flirtation. The sound was effortlessly soothing and impossible to refuse.
Mu Yao cast a sidelong glance at her from a barely noticeable angle, his gaze deep and lingering. She smiled even more brightly and lightly squeezed his arm.
“Is that okay, Fourth Master?”
“Alright, then I’ll give Boss Chu some face.”
With that, he turned and entered the hotel lobby together with Chu Bai.
