Lost in thought, Hua Shier heard another knock on the ward door. Thinking it was a nurse, he said, "Come in."
To his surprise, a man and a woman, both appearing to be in their forties and dressed in expensive clothing, entered. Upon seeing Hua Shier, the woman’s emotions surged; her eyes reddened as she approached the bedside, knelt down immediately, and said, "Young man, you are our family’s great benefactor. I kowtow to you."
Hua Shier began to suspect their identity and quickly got out of bed to help her up.
Before he could speak, the middle-aged man hurried over, gratitude evident in his voice: "Thank goodness, young man, you’ve finally woken up. It’s a relief that you’re okay..."
"Are you the child’s parents?" Hua Shier asked.
They nodded repeatedly and introduced themselves—he was Wang Li, she was Li Dan—the very parents of the child Hua Shier had saved.
Hua Shier invited them to sit and said, "Take your time, tell me what happened."
Once seated, Li Dan began to sob uncontrollably. She explained that they had been busy with their careers and only had their only son after turning forty. They cherished him like a treasure, afraid he might fall or get hurt.
That day, Li Dan took their son out. The boy was running ahead, full of energy, while she followed behind, distracted by her phone. She thought that as long as he stayed on the sidewalk, nothing would happen. But unexpectedly, a car suddenly sped toward them.
In their words, if anything had happened to their son, they might have gone mad.
Hence their profound, heartfelt gratitude toward Hua Shier.
Li Dan’s tears flowed freely as she expressed deep regret, promising never to be distracted by her phone when with her son again.
Hua Shier, concerned for the child’s well-being, hurriedly asked if the boy was injured.
Upon hearing this, Wang Li and Li Dan’s gratitude deepened.

Wang Li told Hua Shier that thanks to his protection, the child had not sustained any serious injuries—only some fright.
Li Dan clutched her chest and said, "At the moment you were hit, young man, you were thrown aside. I nearly fainted. After reaching the hospital, the doctors said both you and the child were unharmed. I didn’t believe it at first, thinking they were just trying to comfort me. But it really was a miracle!"
Wang Li, still shaken, added, "Good things happen to good people. Our son owes his life to you!"
Li Dan nodded emphatically. They weren’t exaggerating—Wang Li had already reviewed the accident footage with the traffic police. Hua Shier had been thrown several meters, crashing into a storefront’s glass window.
The thick glass shattered, yet Hua Shier was unscathed. What else could this be if not a miracle?
However, the couple mentioned something that made Hua Shier uneasy.
Li Dan explained that when Hua Shier was admitted, his heart rate was elevated and blood pressure dropped. After CT and MRI scans, he was diagnosed with internal organ rupture and was rushed into surgery.
But just as they wheeled him into the operating room, his blood pressure and heartbeat suddenly normalized. Further checks revealed the initial diagnosis was due to malfunctioning machines, and the symptoms were likely a stress reaction.
After Li Dan finished, Wang Li laughed: "I said it—good fortune follows good people. You were about to go into surgery but turned things around. That’s what I call being blessed. Our son truly met a benefactor this time!"
Hua Shier was both puzzled and relieved. He thought, “Wow, I almost got cut open...”
He forced a smile and said, "The child being fine is what matters. Wang, don’t worry too much about me."
At that moment, another knock came. The door opened slightly, and a young man in his twenties peeked in. Seeing Wang Li, he greeted, "Boss Wang!" and entered.
He carried a large fruit basket filled with a luxurious assortment of fruit.
Wang Li stood and helped him place the basket on the table beside Hua Shier’s bed. "This is my driver, Xiao Wu. Time was tight and I didn’t get a chance to buy anything better, so I had him bring some fruit for you."
Hua Shier politely accepted the fruit.
After Xiao Wu left, Wang Li began discussing the aftermath of the accident.
It turned out the car wasn’t out of control by accident; the driver was drunk. When the vehicle went out of control, the driver dozed off, the accelerator was floored, and the car barreled onto the sidewalk, nearly causing a disaster.
The driver was already detained by the police. Wang Li said his lawyer would handle the follow-up and that they would not let the man who nearly killed their son go unpunished.
Then Wang Li took out a bank card and sincerely said, "Brother, you’re our family’s savior. Here’s 500,000 yuan. It’s not much, but it’s all our heartfelt thanks. Please, you must accept it."

Hua Shier accepted the fruit but refused the money.
"Wang, I can’t take this. Honestly, I didn’t think much at the time. If you asked me to do it again, I’m not sure I’d have the courage. Besides, I’m not injured."
Li Dan took the card from her husband, placed it beside the fruit basket, and held Hua Shier’s hand.
"Brother, please don’t refuse. Our son means everything to us. I think this is too little. If you don’t accept it, that would mean it’s still too little."
Perhaps worried Hua Shier would refuse, the couple left a business card and departed. As they exited, Wang Li turned back and said,
"I asked the doctors. Although you’re fine now, you did go into shock after being hit. It’s best to stay under observation for 24 hours. I’ve already paid the hospital fees. Please rest here without worry."
"Tomorrow at this time, I’ll bring your great-nephew to pick you up and have him kowtow to you in thanks for saving his life!"
With that, he closed the door firmly, giving Hua Shier no chance to return the card, as if afraid he might refuse the gift.
After they left, Hua Shier looked at the business card. It read: Chairman Wang Li of XX Fitness Chain.
Recognition dawned—he knew this fitness chain had five branches in the city and the owner was reputedly quite wealthy. No wonder he had his own lawyer.
He examined the bank card and saw the password written on its back.
A faint smile appeared. Since they were not short of money, he would accept the 500,000 yuan.
Suddenly, a thought struck him. Li Dan had said he was thrown seven or eight meters and shattered the storefront glass—how could he have no injuries apart from torn clothes?
Recalling a previous dream, Hua Shier tried calling out silently, "System!"
In the next instant, a message appeared in his mind: "Host has rewards pending collection. Would you like to claim now?"
"So there really is a system? So all that was true!"
Hua Shier’s eyes gleamed brightly—if anyone saw him now, they would notice his gaze was even more radiant than when Luo Yun heard about a beauty.
He thought to himself, "I’m rich now..."
