98. Confrontation
Just now, Director Zhu, we also learned a few things, but they seemed rather strange. We were not sure whether we should report them, so the captain of the criminal police beside him spoke with some hesitation.
“What is it? Go on.”
“According to the survivors, when Director Gu and the dozen or so men he brought, along with some of Qin Tianxiong’s subordinates, attacked that man, every bullet stopped beside him. Then he waved his hand, and those bullets flew back the way they came, and then everything became like that.”
“Whether this is true or false, never mention it to anyone outside again. This is a gag order. Do you understand?” Though Zhu Danfeng had not witnessed the scene himself, the strangeness of the situation was unmistakable. He had long known this matter was not simple, and since it involved the methods of that mighty expert, he still harbored some doubts in his heart, yet he immediately issued a gag order to everyone involved.
“Yes, Director Zhu.” The captain of the criminal police agreed, though his expression still showed disbelief.
“Xiao Liu, do you remember what we saw outside the manor? Some things, though we have not seen them with our own eyes and think them impossible, do in fact exist in this world beyond the knowledge of ordinary people. So do not overthink it.” Zhu Danfeng patted his shoulder and offered a word of comfort.
“Who is it?” At that moment, a harsh shout came from the perimeter.
“Move aside. Open your dog eyes and see who this is.” Then came a brazen roar, followed by a burst of hurried footsteps.
Zhu Danfeng’s heart jolted. He knew who had arrived. Yet soon his expression hardened, and he led a group of his men to meet them. More than a dozen police officers were striding over, led by a middle-aged police official.
“Reporting to Director Han, the scene has already been secured, and the wounded have all been sent to the hospital for treatment. Only the bodies have not yet been dealt with,” Zhu Danfeng said as he stepped forward and saluted.
“Director Zhu, this is the eastern district. What happened here should naturally be handled by the Eastern District Bureau. Why have you come here?” Han Zhiwu’s eyes narrowed, and he instantly sensed that something was amiss. He knew Zhu Danfeng was one of Ou Renzhong’s men, so he frowned and asked sternly.
“Director Han, because Director Ou received a report claiming that Twin Heroes Manor was involved in drug trafficking, he arranged for us to cooperate with the drug suppression squad and come take a look. Who knew a gun battle had broken out here, and that Director Gu of the Eastern District Bureau, along with more than ten brothers, had also joined the firefight and been seriously wounded? So I had no choice but to take over the scene here for the time being,” Zhu Danfeng replied, neither humble nor overbearing.
“Director Gu was injured? Where is he now?” Han Zhiwu’s expression changed.
“He’s already been sent to the hospital. Once he wakes up, he’ll need to give a statement, so it would not be convenient to visit him right now,” Zhu Danfeng said with a smile. He could tell Han Zhiwu was growing anxious.
“And what about Qin Tianxiong and the others?” As expected, what Han Zhiwu cared about most was Qin Tianxiong’s group.
“Oh, most of Qin Tianxiong’s men are dead. He was lucky, though; he somehow didn’t die, but he was also severely injured and unconscious. He’s been sent to the hospital as well,” Zhu Danfeng said unhurriedly.
“Director Zhu, I now order you in my capacity as deputy director of the municipal bureau to immediately hand over all the injured to me for handling. You may take your district bureau people back,” Han Zhiwu said suddenly, after a moment of struggle in his expression.
“Director Han, that would be inappropriate, would it not? I am acting under Director Ou’s orders. Since I have taken over the relevant work, how could I call it a day before the matter is finished? Besides, with just this handful of men, Director Han, I’m afraid it wouldn’t be enough. So let us not trouble you after all.” Zhu Danfeng rolled his eyes and smiled, shaking his head.
“Zhu Danfeng, how dare you disobey Director Han’s orders? Are you trying to rebel?” At that moment, a man beside Han Zhiwu suddenly stepped forward, drew his gun in one swift motion, and pointed it at Zhu Danfeng as he shouted.

Seeing Zhu Danfeng held at gunpoint, the armed police and criminal police around him all aimed their weapons at Han Zhiwu’s side in unison, while the more than ten police officers behind Han Zhiwu also hastily drew their guns and pointed them at one another.
However, Han Zhiwu had arrived in haste, and he had never imagined that Ou Renzhong’s information network would be so swift, that they would know the news in advance and even send so many men. In an instant, he found himself surrounded by police officers from all sides with guns aimed at him.
“What are you all doing? We are all one family. Who taught you to point guns at your own people? Put them down at once!” A trace of a smile appeared on Zhu Danfeng’s face, but then he shouted sharply, causing the surrounding officers to lower their muzzles.
The man in front of Han Zhiwu looked somewhat awkward, since he had been the first to draw his gun and aim at Zhu Danfeng. At this moment he was somewhat trapped, and could not help but glance back at Han Zhiwu.
“Put the guns down. What kind of spectacle is this?”
Han Zhiwu had no choice but to bark the order. No matter how bold he was, he did not dare open fire in public. Moreover, the police around them were clearly led by Ou Renzhong’s trusted men, and would not listen to his commands at all. If he forced the issue, it would be hard to end this today.
After seeing his subordinates put away their pistols one by one, Han Zhiwu looked steadily at Zhu Danfeng. “Director Zhu, it seems you are not willing to give me this face today?”
“Director Han, today’s matter is too big. I’m afraid no one can cover it up. To be frank with you, Director Ou and the leaders from the provincial public security department have already come as well. They’ll be here at the scene any moment now,” Zhu Danfeng said. He had heard the sound of a helicopter by his ear and knew that Ou Renzhong and the others had arrived.
“Let’s go.” Sure enough, Han Zhiwu looked up toward the horizon, where two tiny black dots were rapidly approaching. He turned and departed at once with his many men.
“Inform the hospital immediately to tighten security and secretly transfer Gu Changlin and Qin Tianxiong to another facility for treatment. Do not arrange them together with anyone else,” Zhu Danfeng said as he made a phone call.
He had to guard against Han Zhiwu and the others taking desperate measures and silencing Gu Changlin and Qin Tianxiong by killing them. Moreover, he believed that once this case was fully handled, Han Zhiwu would certainly be finished, and he himself would have the chance to rise into Han Zhiwu’s position.
“Good work.” A few minutes later, after getting out of the helicopter, Ou Renzhong looked over the situation and praised Zhu Danfeng.
“But Director Ou, based on some of the things the brothers asked about earlier, the matter seems to be roughly like this. What do you think we should do now?” After briefly reporting the strange story told by the injured men about bullets flying back, Zhu Danfeng looked toward Chen Fengyun, who had not yet left in the distance, and asked.
“I’ll go speak with him. You arrange for the brothers to handle the scene properly. Such a huge incident will certainly alarm the provincial leaders, and the provincial bureau’s leaders will be arriving shortly as well,” Ou Renzhong nodded, then walked toward Chen Fengyun’s direction.
“My heavens, is he still a grandmaster of martial arts? So many bullets, and he could actually block them all?” In the distance, three grandmasters had not yet left. Gu Qingyuan asked in disbelief.
