Chapter 129: Employment (Part II)
The young man’s age was difficult to discern, though he clearly appeared quite young. His head of long, water-blue hair drifted loosely behind him. As for his face, Peipero could not see it, for he stood with his back to her.
In his hand, he gripped a peculiar weapon—a hybrid of a spear and a scythe. Most strangely, he had wrapped the blade in a layer of snow-white fur, completely concealing what lay beneath, as if he had no desire to reveal it to outsiders. He stood before her, a crystalline yet incredibly sturdy ice shield manifesting around them. The surface of the shield was not smooth; it was covered in sharp, jagged spikes. These served as both a defense and an effective means of offense. The youth and Peipero were perfectly encased within this shield, while outside, Garay glared at them with a ferocious, twisted expression. The five black fangs on his back had pierced deep into the ice, but whether due to a lack of remaining strength or the sheer durability of the shield, he found himself wedged against it, unable to move. What infuriated him even more was that a sharp spike hovered a mere half-inch from his eye. Despite the defensive scales formed by his energy aura, his eyes remained unprotected; had he not reacted in time, he would have been blinded.
"Ah!"
A flash of confusion and bewilderment crossed Garay’s eyes, soon replaced by a surge of inexplicable rage. He bared his teeth, his expression suggesting he would tear someone apart alive, and roared continuously at the youth who had appeared from nowhere.
He had been so close! He had almost touched Peipero’s body.
