Chapter 149: The Flaw of the God-Blooded Warriors

When he returned to the tribal settlement, Mountain Tiger came out to greet him as soon as he heard the news.
Rumble!
The moment he stepped outside, the astonishing noise startled him.
Looking ahead, he saw an enormous black ox, dozens of meters tall and roughly a hundred meters long, its hide gleaming with a metallic sheen.
He recognized this kind of ox.
It was one of the six divine beasts of the Divine Kingdom!
When he looked to the right, he saw that the corpses of divine beasts were still being thrown down one after another.
There were piles of them, large and small alike!
Five of the black oxen were even larger than the houses in which they lived!
Many members of the Mountain Tiger Tribe had gathered nearby to watch, repeatedly crying out in amazement.
“Gods above, just how many divine beasts did he hunt?”
“Forget the slightly smaller ones. Isn’t that one as large as a hill?”
“Forget the smaller ones? Look carefully—the smallest is still two or three meters long! They are absolutely savage-beast-level creatures!”
As he gazed at the mountain of divine-beast corpses before him, Mountain Dark found himself momentarily dazed.
The blood of divine beasts, once utterly beyond his reach, now nearly filled his entire field of vision.
And the corpses continued to rain down from the sky without end.
Boom!
As the final divine ox landed, Song Qi came to stand before Mountain Dark.
“How is it? This should be enough for you to use, right?”
“If it isn’t, there’s nothing I can do. There aren’t any more divine beasts left in that region.”
“It’s enough. More than enough!”
At this, Mountain Dark could only smile bitterly.
He had thought Song Qi was merely going to hunt one or two juvenile beasts in the region where the divine beasts lived.
He had never imagined that Song Qi would slaughter an entire divine-beast territory!
And judging from the scene, he had killed not only five adult divine beasts, but also a creature even more powerful than the adults.
When he looked at Song Qi again, it was obvious that the man felt not the slightest discomfort, as though he had merely gone out for a stroll and casually wiped out the entire herd of divine beasts.
Earlier, Mountain Dark had believed that Song Qi’s strength might be comparable to that of a divine-blood warrior.
Thus, although he had treated him with respect, he had not felt particularly intimidated.
Now, however, merely looking at Song Qi made his heart tremble.
It was like an ordinary person standing before an elephant two meters tall. Even knowing that the creature was friendly, one could not help feeling uneasy.
When the difference in strength between two sides was simply too great, even if the stronger party showed no hostility whatsoever, merely standing before them was enough to make a person tense.
After thinking for a moment, Mountain Dark cupped his hands.
“Brother Song... No. Thank you, Brother Song.”

He tentatively tried addressing Song Qi the way Young Master Chu did.
Mountain Dark had witnessed Chu Shaojiang’s strength today. Since Chu Shaojiang could address him that way, it should be acceptable for him to do the same.
Song Qi paid little attention to such minor details. He pointed toward the corpses.
“With all this blood, how long will it take you to produce results?”
The method for advancing to become a divine-blood warrior had been concealed by the Divine Kingdom, leaving all of humanity ignorant of it.
Therefore, Mountain Dark and the others could only conduct their research step by step, including the proportions and composition of the herbs involved.
“We should have the results by tomorrow,” Mountain Dark replied.
“I will petition the deity and ask it to bestow a blessing, recreating the process by which divine-blood warriors are born.”
“When the time comes, we will only need to remember the exact procedure.”
“That deity certainly is convenient...” Song Qi nodded thoughtfully.
“Oh, right. Have that deity reinforce the mark on my forehead as well. Look—it has already shrunk by several circles.”
“No problem. I will include that in my prayer.”
“Good. Then I’ll go get some rest.”
After receiving his answer, Song Qi waved a hand and turned to leave.
Once Song Qi was gone, Mountain Dark exhaled deeply. His tense body finally relaxed.
Then he sank into thought.
“He... must already be infinitely close to the realm of the divine, right?”
“Can humanity really reach such a realm through its own strength alone, without relying on external forces?”
“And that subordinate of his is absurdly powerful as well. His body clearly isn’t particularly resistant to blows, yet he moves so quickly that even I can barely follow him.”
“The Path of Professions...”
“Could it be a path distinct from that of divine-blood warriors—a supreme avenue capable of leading directly to the realm of the divine?!”
“If we could learn this so-called Path of Professions, perhaps the people of our continent could produce similar powerhouses.”
His eyes were filled with longing and yearning.
He could clearly sense that this was the true means of salvation, the way to lead humanity on this continent out of its sea of suffering.
“But... how does one set foot upon this extraordinary path?”
“Moreover, the method of entering such a supreme path must be an absolute secret.”
“I wonder whether he knows it...”
Mountain Dark pondered for a long time before finally making up his mind.
“I’ll wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow... if the divine-blood warriors prove ineffective, I’ll ask him...”
...............
The night passed.

“Yaaawn...”
At dawn, Song Qi awoke on the most luxurious beast-skin bed in the Mountain Dark Tribe. He glanced around and saw a basin of hot water beside the door.
The people of the Mountain Tiger Tribe had probably prepared it especially for him.
Song Qi rose, scratched his backside, summoned a terracotta soldier to carry the hot water over, and washed his face.
Then he touched his forehead.
The flame-shaped mark had returned to its original state.
“They work rather efficiently. Looks like I won’t need to rest today.”
He then rose and walked toward the door.
Creak!
As the wooden door slowly swung open, Song Qi discovered that four people were standing outside.
Chu Shaojiang stood on the left, while Mountain Dark and two unfamiliar, red-skinned, powerfully built men stood on the right.
The moment he saw Song Qi, Chu Shaojiang approached with a broad grin and was about to speak.
But Mountain Dark beat him to it.
“Brother Song,” Mountain Dark said, cupping his hands.
“?”
Chu Shaojiang turned his head in disbelief and pointed at Mountain Dark, as though he wanted to say something. But after glancing at Song Qi, he swallowed his words.
“What’s going on? Why are all of you waiting outside my door?”
Song Qi glanced at the two red-skinned brutes and asked instinctively,
“These two are divine-blood warriors, I take it?”
“You managed to produce them so quickly?”
“Although something seems wrong with their condition.”
The two brutes clearly possessed much stronger auras than ordinary men, but white steam continuously rose from their bodies.
They looked as though their bodies had been forcibly pushed beyond their limits.
Mountain Dark spoke with some embarrassment.
“As expected of Brother Song. You saw the problem at a glance.”
“Just as you can see, we have successfully developed divine-blood warriors, and their combat strength is indeed extraordinarily powerful, just as I expected.”
“But there is one problem... Their lifespans have been reduced to less than a year.”
“It is almost as if the lifespan of their bodies has been forcibly compressed into a single year, allowing them to unleash far greater power.”
“However, we have also tested them. The stronger the source of the blood, the stronger the divine-blood warrior—and their lifespan increases to a certain extent as well.”
“According to our conjecture, to become true divine-blood warriors like those genuine ones in the Divine Kingdom, we may need the blood of a deity.”
