Chapter Twenty: The Six-Eyed Youth Edition
In the bathroom, Chen Lai attempted to replicate the various miraculous abilities of the Six Eyes he possessed in the game world, such as penetration, the God’s-eye view, or the level of insight so detailed it could perceive everything.
Unfortunately, all his attempts failed. He felt that while his vision had improved significantly, the penetration and God’s-eye view were gone, let alone the microscopic level of observation.
"Damn it, if you’re going to give me something, give me the full version! What’s the point of giving me a 'youth version' in reality when I had the complete one in the game?"
Chen Lai cursed, and just as he was about to punch the mirror, he heard two cold knocks on the door.
"Dinner’s ready."
"Oh, coming."
After splashing his face with water, Chen Lai walked out without drying off. He saw several boxes of food on the table—leftovers Chen Fang had brought home from the hotel where she worked, needing only a quick reheat.
A pair of chopsticks was placed in front of his bowl. At the table, Chen Fang did not criticize her son, and Chen Lai remained silent.
The chopsticks moved incessantly, and the food on the table vanished rapidly. Chen Fang watched her son with a trace of shock; previously, whenever Chen Lai emerged from the game, he would look as if his energy had been completely drained, barely able to eat anything. This time, however, he devoured the entire portion, which was meant to last for three days.
When did her son become such a glutton?
"Mom, is there any more?"
Even after finishing the bowl, Chen Lai felt hungrier than before. His previously frail body now felt as if it were being gradually filled and inflated; he felt stronger with every passing moment.
*Right, if the Six Eyes followed me into this world, there's no reason the Heavenly Restriction wouldn't have come along too,* Chen Lai thought to himself.
As he ate, he noticed his mother staring at him with astonishment.
"I’ll get you another bowl... but what’s wrong with your eyes? Why did they change color?"
Chen Fang pulled out the rice cooker and asked her son, looking bewildered.
Chen Lai was taken aback. "Change color?"
"Yes, they were blue a moment ago, why are they back to brown? Did you mess up your health playing those games?" Chen Fang asked, her tone shifting toward worry.
With a mouthful of rice, Chen Lai rushed into the bathroom and stared into the mirror.
Indeed, his light blue eyes had reverted to their original brown, and his vision had returned to normal.
*Damn, the Six Eyes and the Heavenly Restriction are truly in conflict! This conflict manifests even in the real world!*
*When the Six Eyes are dominant, the Heavenly Restriction is suppressed; when the Heavenly Restriction is strengthened, the Six Eyes recede.*
Chen Lai was speechless. This situation had never occurred in *Jujutsu Kaisen*, or rather, it was impossible for the Six Eyes and a Heavenly Restriction to be concentrated in the same person.
This kind of bug only existed for Chen Lai, who had stumbled into inheriting both talents.
At that moment, Chen Fang walked to the bathroom door, looking concerned. She asked in a low voice, "Are you okay? Should we go to the hospital and get you checked out? Just stop playing that game from now on. I told you long ago that game is wicked and harmful."
Chen Lai opened the door and shook his head. "I'm fine, Mom. It’s not an illness... you wouldn't understand."
He had wanted to explain, but ultimately that was all he could say. His mother, Chen Fang, was not a gamer; she was older, slow to accept new things, and incapable of grasping Chen Lai's situation.
Even Chen Lai didn't fully understand the changes happening to him, so how could he explain them to her?
After the meal, Chen Lai prepared to dive back into the Deep Sea game to figure things out. He had intended to add "The Hall’s Ferocious Tiger" earlier, but he had logged off in too much of a rush. And then there was that beautiful woman from the extraction—he hadn't understood a word she babbled.
The Deep Sea game had too many nuances, and the information he possessed was too scarce; he had to rely on new friends.
"You're going to play that electronic game again?" Chen Fang asked, watching Chen Lai take off his shirt, clutching her forehead in distress.
Chen Lai glanced back at his mother, transferred the eight thousand yuan he’d made from selling "Kento Nanami’s Necktie" in his account to her, and left her with a message:
"Mom, don't worry. This is money I earned in the game over the last few days."
"Also, I made a little money streaming the game with a friend. Once I get back this time, I’ll clear all our debts. Don't worry."
With that, Chen Lai jumped into the "Deep Sea Fish Tank" and entered the Deep Sea game.
His consciousness drifted away, and when he opened his eyes again, he was back at the iceberg with the floating ice that ferried him around.
Behind the iceberg was the same penguin island, teeming with creatures.
A seagull flew down from the sky and dropped a cod in front of Chen Lai.
Etched onto the cod was a line of text: *[The Hall’s Ferocious Tiger] has sent you a friend request. Do you accept?*
"Accept," Chen Lai said.
The seagull stood in front of him, motionless. The cod didn't change, and the friend request hadn't gone through.
Chen Lai had a sudden realization and swallowed the cod whole. The request was immediately approved, and a penguin descended from the sky.
"The King descends from the heavens, fierce and savage!"
The *chuunibyou* Ferocious Tiger had innocent eyes as he struck a pose and shouted this line after landing.
"Stop being savage for a second, I have a question for you."
"Ask away, I’ll tell you everything I know... By the way, about the streaming revenue we agreed on, the 30/70 split, I’m transferring your share now."
Before Chen Lai could ask his question, a currency transaction request appeared before him, displaying:
*[The Hall’s Ferocious Tiger is transferring 140,000 Q-Coins to you. Do you accept?]*
Chen Lai was bewildered. "Q-Coins?"
Ferocious Tiger waved a wing. "It’s the currency used among penguins. If not Q-Coins, what would it be—hard cash? Just take it. It converts automatically at a one-to-one ratio."
Chen Lai tapped confirm, and his account showed that 140,000 had arrived.
Fine. Although it was still a bit short of clearing his debts, that was a minor issue.
As long as the Deep Sea game existed and he knew about the major events, he could rake in countless fortunes!
"Let me ask you, do you know how talent inheritance works?" Chen Lai asked, feeling puzzled. He had checked the Deep Sea forums earlier but found nothing.
"Talent inheritance?" Ferocious Tiger mused. "Is that the option you only get after bringing out a 'Unique' grade red item?"
"I have no idea," Chen Lai said blankly. It was his first time playing the Deep Sea game, and he was completely clueless about the mechanics after extraction.
"Oh, don't overthink it. You heard what 'Ice Cola' said earlier—you can find all the answers at Deep Sea University!"
"I've already graduated from university."
"Why are you so stubborn?" Ferocious Tiger was speechless. He realized this newbie was truly ignorant of everything, even basic common sense.
"Deep Sea University isn't a university. It’s a vocational school specifically established by the Deep Sea Corporation to bridge the gap into the Deep Sea game. It’s divided into two main branches: the 'Vinegar Academy' and the 'Dumpling Academy'!"
"I don't know the details either; I've never been to Deep Sea University. Only the top-tier talents get in there!"
"Are gamers considered top-tier talents?" Chen Lai asked, mocking himself.
Ferocious Tiger looked at Chen Lai as if he were an exotic animal. "It’s 2050, why is your thinking as outdated as a zombie's?"
"Why wouldn't gamers be top-tier talents? If you can pull a gold-red item out of the game, you're a goddamn legend!"
"That's why I'm jealous of you talent-types. With nothing to your name and zero knowledge, you just jump into the game and walk out with a red item. Sigh, it's truly baffling."
