Zhuo Yiyi could not hold it in. By the time she tried to cover her mouth, it was already too late.
“Pfft…”
Just then, someone finally appeared on the big screen.
Ji Taotao emerged bleary-eyed. He first wandered into the living room and glanced around, then swept his eyes over the dining table. His little face darkened with anger.
“Mom’s never home, Dad sleeps through everything, and I don’t even have breakfast to eat… This is so annoying!”
Unable to contain himself, Ji Taotao shouted loudly:
“Dad! Stop sleeping! I’m starving to death!”
Lin Xiaolu stared wide-eyed at the scene, her mind in complete disarray.
What on earth are you doing, Ji Ming?!
For so many days, she had reminded him over and over, and they had gone through the whole routine as if rehearsing for a performance. Yet on the very day of the livestream, he had completely fallen apart.
Li Huange was already beside herself with delight. Suppressing her gloating, she pretended to sound concerned.
“Oh dear, children are growing so fast. It’s already past eight, and he can’t even get a bite to eat. How pitiful…”
Lin Xiaolu nearly ground her teeth to powder.
“If Best Actress Lin were given two choices right now, I wonder which one she would choose?” Li Huange asked teasingly.
Lin Xiaolu forced a smile and looked at her.
Li Huange smiled sweetly.
“First, a husband who sleeps in and leaves his child without breakfast.”
“Second, the very husband Best Actress Lin scolded yesterday for singing while collecting manure suddenly appears and prepares a table full of delicious breakfast!”
Bai Qinghe and Zhuo Yiyi both sucked in a sharp breath.
That was vicious.
Without uttering a single crude word, Li Huange had driven the knife straight into someone’s lungs with a calm, effortless smile.
Anyone with half a brain would choose having a delicious breakfast for the child, right? What was wrong with singing while collecting manure?
Singing while collecting manure did not mean eating manure!
Shen Qi entertaining himself was actually very charming, all right? I watched those edited clips several more times yesterday.
Lin Xiaolu’s mockery of Shen Qi yesterday was still fresh in everyone’s minds! Now she was reaping what she had sown!
Bai Qinghe could not help feeling a trace of fear as well.
She had condemned Shen Qi yesterday too…

Lin Xiaolu could find nothing with which to argue and could only say,
“I… I don’t know what happened either…”
“Maybe my husband went to bed too late last night, so… he didn’t get up?”
At that moment, Ji Ming finally appeared on camera.
Wearing nothing but a pair of blue shorts, he walked out of the bedroom bare-chested. He yawned, rubbed his eyes, frowned, and looked thoroughly irritated.
“What the hell are you shouting for…?”
The comments exploded at once, while the studio audience let out a collective gasp.
Is… is that the Heavenly King Ji?
Compared with Shen Qi, his physique is far worse. Everything’s gone slack.
Isn’t Heavenly King Ji always gentle and amiable in public? I never imagined he was like this in private.
A hungry child can’t even call for his own father?
The moment Ji Ming finished speaking, he seemed to remember something and thought to himself, Oh no!
He immediately put on a gentle expression and reached out to rub Ji Taotao’s little head.
“Daddy was busy with work last night and went to bed a little late. Daddy’s sorry. I’ll go make you something to eat right now.”
Ji Taotao froze as well.
Was something wrong here?
Did the word “sorry” even exist in his old man’s dictionary?
As if he had thought of something, Ji Taotao began casually looking around.
That tiny movement was enough for Li Huange to understand everything as clearly as if she were looking into a mirror.
Ji Ming glanced at the clock on the wall, then hurried back into the bedroom, pulled on a shirt, washed up, and went into the kitchen to cook.
Although he had made preparations beforehand, Ji Ming suddenly discovered that there were no ingredients left in the house.
Normally, the nanny handled such matters. It was not surprising that Ji Ming had overlooked it—even Lin Xiaolu, who was participating in the show, seemed to have forgotten.
Ji Ming frowned slightly.
Nothing should go wrong… right?
…
???
Did he only put water in the pot? Is he making plain boiled noodles?
Hard to say. Plain noodles have no nutritional value. He’ll probably fry some scallions in oil or make a sauce for them.
Breakfast is always simple. Even Best Actress Lin and Heavenly King Ji live pretty ordinary lives.
“When I’m not home, he’s the one who makes Taotao’s breakfast,” Lin Xiaolu said with a smile.
Li Huange nodded in agreement. “You can tell at a glance how much Heavenly King Ji dotes on Taotao! There’s no way he would only make him plain boiled noodles!”
Lin Xiaolu nodded. “Of course not!”

On-screen, Ji Ming brought a pot of water to a boil and added the noodles.
Then he simply added a little salt. Once the noodles were cooked, he served them in bowls.
Bai Qinghe and Zhuo Yiyi both froze, then curiously turned to look at Lin Xiaolu.
Lin Xiaolu’s body stiffened. She stared wide-eyed at the screen, hoping Ji Ming would make another move.
Unfortunately…
Ji Ming carried the two bowls of noodles to the dining table, set them down, and sat down himself.
“Boiling noodles in plain water doesn’t destroy their original… um… nutritional value! And… and Taotao loves plain boiled noodles, so…”
Lin Xiaolu hurriedly began to explain.
…
Ji Taotao sat at the dining table, staring at the bowl of plain noodles before him, his little face twisted into a miserable expression.
“Dad, I’m really sick of the plain noodles you make!”
“You make plain noodles for me every single day, so why do you keep telling Mom that you prepare all kinds of different breakfasts for me?”
“So you get to show Mom what a good father you are, and she thinks I eat well every day, while I’m the only one suffering, is that it?”
Lin Xiaolu: …
Li Huange was truly on the verge of bursting out laughing.
I treated you as a formidable rival and prepared for battle, only for your husband and son to expose you one after another. I didn’t even get the chance to make a move!
This opponent was simply too brutal!
Too heartless!
And completely without honor!
“So…”
Li Huange stroked her exquisite chin and turned to Lin Xiaolu.
“Does Taotao actually like plain boiled noodles or not?”
