Volume One, Chapter 31: My Greatest Regret in This Life Is Marrying You
“Xie Xingzhi, what are you doing?”
Jiang Yutang’s brows drew together. Acting on instinct, she seized his wrist and twisted it back. Only after confirming that the man in the cave was Xie Xingzhi did she relax and fling him away.
She scowled and rebuked him. “Is this how you show respect to your elder brother’s wife?”
The two stood facing each other inside the cave.
Ling Bai seemed to understand something. He finally abandoned his obsession with attaining immortality, and all worldly attachments returned to his heart. The clear, detached serenity he had possessed as an immortal vanished without a trace.
Shao Xuxue had witnessed the legendary wolf riders with her own eyes, and the sight naturally left her somewhat shaken.
Lin Mo received one as well. Without having time to examine it closely, he stuffed the talisman into his pocket and began lowering his head to organize his luggage.
Seeing this, Liu Qiao’er’s heart tightened. Terrified that the two young masters, Xiao and Qiu, might be discovered by these hooligans, she hurriedly began speaking.
A chill shot from the soles of her feet straight to the crown of her head. Every hair on her body stood on end, as though something were watching her.
Inside, Shao Xiji was seized directly by Li Zhen. No matter how desperately he struggled, he could not break free of Li Zhen’s hold.
“You said it was a curved building. I think you must mean the commercial tower in the northeast corner,” Jiang Xiyue said.
The moment Xie Qingyao saw the expression on Wei Yi’an’s face, she knew he must have done something shameful that night.
As a result, the fight became almost completely one-sided. The overwhelming astral wind of the Foundation Establishment stage pressed the breath from her lungs, and she repeatedly found herself in mortal danger.
Duo Duo had grown bolder by now. Raising the handle of her umbrella, she used its canopy to fend off the vengeful spirits swooping down from above.
Zhao Xingqiang wore an utterly helpless expression. He felt that matters had already reached this point, and it was too late to mend the damage. With a sigh, he drew a circle on the map.
Zhao Hao’s words proved highly effective. After hearing him out, the dead man’s parents no longer shouted as they had before. Instead, they listened quietly to the questions Zhao Hao was preparing to ask.
“What makes you say that?”
Wang Menglong was curious as well. Everything Yu said carried a faint force of intimidation—sometimes a penetrating analysis of the larger situation, sometimes a direct strike at the heart of the problem. Faced with such a talent, Wang Menglong could only guide him patiently.
Hearing Song Xiangsi, the old Daoist priest looked over. At first, he had not intended to pay her any attention, but the moment he saw her face, his eyes lit up. He ran straight toward her and stared at her without the slightest intention of looking away, like a wolf fixing its gaze upon its prey.
“A golden Wind God Stone!”
Even Chu Chen’s composure could not withstand the sight; he nearly began to drool.
The Netherworld was a rather unusual layer among the Six Worlds. Even Lord Huang and the others did not know why this layer existed.
Jin Ye was momentarily stunned by his reply, seemingly somewhat disappointed. After steadying herself, she once again let a sweet smile bloom across her face.
This time, there was one change that had been entirely expected: Kong Se. With Hu Tu’s gift, his cultivation had increased dramatically. By the time he emerged, his abilities could rival Wang Liwen’s. Moreover, because his will was firmer, he could transmit his power over a greater distance than Wang Liwen.
Night descended, and the Dragon Vein River sank into darkness. There were no lamps, no sounds—only an endless expanse of blackness.
The conflict that had arisen earlier because of the foxfolk seemed to have been set aside, and the atmosphere once more became harmonious and tranquil.
“Just as Greedy Wolf was preparing to unleash his ultimate move, Dong Zhanyun performed a backward somersault and came crashing through the air like a cannonball, arriving above the beast in an instant!
‘Blood-Origin Blade Aura!’
With a furious shout from Dong Zhanyun, a broad, razor-sharp blade aura of immense power came slashing down.”
“Wang Xuanlong, what are you doing? Put me down!”
Liu Xiaoling struggled incessantly, glaring at him furiously as she shouted. Yet he acted as though he had heard nothing, carrying her slowly toward the bedroom.
Daochen also exchanged a cold smile with Chen Yi. He was in no hurry to act. After all, if the Yu family could resolve the matter, there would be no need for him to get involved. Unlike Li Chi and the others, he did not care how someone died. As long as they were dead, that was enough.
