Chapter Four: Prelude to the Summit War
Jotaro Kujo: "...You can just call me JOJO. @Kizaru, can you come help when the time comes? Whatever reward you want, just name it."
Given Jotaro Kujo’s usual demeanor, even when facing a formidable foe like Dio Brando, he wouldn’t normally ask a stranger for help so hastily.
But this battle concerned his mother’s life; to sever the curse at its root, Dio Brando had to be eliminated.
Although the uploaded story from Part 3 of JOJO’s Bizarre Adventure shows that he eventually defeats Dio, why refuse a safer method?
Kizaru: "Ah, of course. After all, I bear the name of justice as a Marine. As for payment, just let me keep the spoils."
Jotaro Kujo: "Great! When will you come?"
Kizaru: "Once you reach Egypt, send the mission in the chat, and I’ll head over."
In the pirate world, Kizaru yawned during the meeting, slacking off.
Glancing at Nami behind him furiously scribbling notes, a faint look of anticipation crossed his face.
The chance to cross over into JOJO’s world and casually take down Dio was far more entertaining than chasing after some strange pirates.
Of course, the most important thing was that hunting pirates usually came with a bounty, which didn’t exactly excite Kizaru.
Orochimaru: "@Kizaru, hey Kizaru, can you capture that Dio Brando and, before completely eradicating him, preserve some of his flesh and tissue? I’ll offer a suitable reward in exchange."
Kizaru: "Sure, prepare the payment."
Kizaru wasn’t worried that Orochimaru wouldn’t offer a satisfactory reward.
Though he wasn’t certain which version of Orochimaru was currently in the group, as long as it wasn’t a child Orochimaru, there would be no shortage of valuable things in his possession.
At worst, Kizaru would wait until Orochimaru had something valuable and then collect his payment.
Random Bystander Hoping to Befriend Luo Feng: "This is great. With Boss Kizaru helping, no matter how cunning Dio is, he won’t escape."
Ai Haibara: "Are you really that confident?"
Random Bystander Hoping to Befriend Luo Feng: "Let me put it this way: if Boss Kizaru came to your world, just during afternoon tea, if he wanted, he could tear Tokyo apart."
Ai Haibara: "You sound like one of those villainous alien monsters from Kamen Rider..."
Random Bystander Hoping to Befriend Luo Feng: "In some ways, those monsters don’t even compare to Boss Kizaru."
Then followed a series of praises for Kizaru.
Even though Kizaru himself hadn’t said much, his status among the group members was rising.
In fact, the Random Bystander wasn’t just a casual fan; he figured that by hyping up Kizaru now, if he ever found himself in trouble, the boss wouldn’t just stand by.
Even in a late-stage power-packed world like Swallowed Star, Boss Kizaru could dominate early on. Befriending such a powerhouse would at least guarantee safety.
But unfortunately, this Kizaru was not the genuine one. The real Kizaru might step in for the sake of appearances, but this one wasn’t so easily moved.
While Kizaru was multitasking and slacking off, the Marines’ headquarters meeting began to get serious.
"Admiral Sengoku, risking war with the Whitebeard Pirates over Fire Fist Ace—doesn’t this choice warrant reconsideration?" asked a Marine Rear Admiral sitting near Admiral Aokiji.
Not all Marines were like Admiral Akainu, who wished to wipe out all pirates at any cost.
Even within the Marine headquarters, based on their stance toward pirates, there were hawks and doves.
The hawks were radical, insisting pirates were irredeemable and must be crushed with the harshest measures, even if civilians were harmed.
The doves were more conservative, believing the Marine’s duty was to protect civilians and uphold justice; endangering people to eliminate pirates was irresponsible.
Admiral Akainu represented the hawks, Admiral Aokiji the doves, and the neutral faction chose Admiral Kizaru as their representative.
Privately, or rather mainly in front of Nami, Kizaru dubbed his faction the “slacker faction.”
At this moment, the Rear Admiral speaking was one of the doves, who did not oppose fighting pirates but thought provoking all-out conflict with the Whitebeard Pirates over Fire Fist Ace was unwise.
What if the Whitebeard Pirates retaliated fully in the New World?
Even if the Marine branches in the New World could hold them off, why assume other pirate crews wouldn’t seize the chance to cause trouble?
"This is precisely what we need to discuss..." Admiral Sengoku took a deep breath. Though over ten years had passed, his voice grew serious when mentioning that man again.
"Fire Fist Ace, second division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, his true name is Gol D. Ace! He is a descendant of Pirate King Gol D. Roger! The blood of sin flows through him!"
The moment he finished, the previously quiet meeting room erupted.
Even Akainu and Kuzan showed shocked expressions.
Pirate King Gol D. Roger!
Even after more than a decade, the man who personally ignited the Great Pirate Era remained a taboo figure among many Marines.
Now, with Sengoku revealing Ace as Roger’s descendant, and recalling Whitebeard’s complicated ties with Roger as both friend and foe, Ace’s role as Whitebeard’s second division commander sparked much speculation.
"Pirate King, huh..."
Kizaru sighed thoughtfully. He hadn’t expected Vice Admiral Garp’s long-hidden secret to be exposed.
"Mr. Kizaru... do you think Fire Fist Ace knows where the Pirate King’s treasure is hidden?"
Seizing the moment amidst the officers’ lively discussion, Nami carefully approached Kizaru, her beautiful eyes already shaped like treasure.
"Ah, well... I suppose he probably doesn’t know," Kizaru replied with a twitch of his mouth, silently resolving to keep a close watch on this greedy little thief later.
