Slurp, slurp~

After finishing one glass, there were still three more.

Unconsciously, Kuang Tianyou had drained the entire bottle of red wine.

His two zombie fangs also involuntarily showed.

Gao Jin and Wang Jianjun, who had been standing behind Lin Bei watching Kuang Tianyou, were shocked when they saw this.

When Lin Bei first demonstrated the power of the Sun’s Breath, they were half-believing and half-doubting his claims.

Then, after encountering the invulnerable ancient corpse, it wasn’t until they saw Kuang Tianyou reveal his zombie teeth that they finally believed without question.

These men were considered elite among men, especially Wang Jianjun, a seasoned battlefield veteran who only trusted the blade and gun in his hands.

The appearance of supernatural beings made them somewhat question their own lives.

Lin Bei noticed the change in his men but didn’t try to comfort them; this was something they would have to accept sooner or later.

It was like when he saw that newspaper—it was no less jarring than hearing a voice whisper in his ear, “Da Lang, it’s time to take your medicine!”

Or perhaps, “Commander, we’re approaching Huanggu Tun.”

His attention was now almost entirely on Kuang Tianyou.

After guzzling the fresh blood, there was a clear transformation in Kuang Tianyou.

When he first came in, he looked somewhat gaunt and disheveled, but now he appeared vibrant and full of energy.

Curious, Lin Bei asked, “How do you feel now?”

Kuang Tianyou retracted his zombie fangs and smacked his lips before saying, “I feel like I could kill a bull.”

Seeing his serious expression, Lin Bei was momentarily stunned, then couldn’t help but burst into hearty laughter.

A second-generation zombie with the Pangu bloodline mixing like this was truly unique.

But considering Kuang Tianyou’s true identity, such willpower was not surprising.

Kuang Tianyou glanced at the remaining wine and asked, “Mr. Lin, you gave me such a grand gift—what exactly are you after? Don’t tell me you want to become a zombie.”

Lin Bei shook his head. “I do want immortality, but not in that way. Come on, I’ll show you the trouble I’m dealing with.”

With that, he stood up and led Kuang Tianyou toward the backyard.

---

Kuang Tianyou watched Lin Bei’s back, filled with doubt.

He felt this man was somewhat strange, as if he knew everything about him.

Arriving at the backyard, Kuang Tianyou immediately saw two coffins sealed tightly with dense talisman papers.

He stopped in his tracks. Though the talismans had little effect on him, he didn’t want to be bombarded for no reason.

Kuang Tianyou asked Lin Bei, “Mr. Lin, what’s going on here?”

Lin Bei didn’t answer right away but first had someone remove the talisman formation. Only then did he say, “Come take a look.”

Kuang Tianyou stepped forward and saw the contents of the coffins clearly.

The two lifelike ancient corpses made his eyes widen involuntarily.

“Zombies?”

Lin Bei nodded. “Exactly. But they’re different from your kind with the Pangu bloodline. These were formed naturally because of lingering grudges after death and being buried in places thick with yin energy. Simply put, you’re artificially made, and they are naturally formed.

Moreover, since they were powerful practitioners in life, once they awaken, they will immediately go on a rampage, killing wildly and draining blood on a massive scale.

When that happens, it won’t just be the people of Hong Kong Island who suffer; even the mainland will be affected.”

Kuang Tianyou’s face grew serious. “Can’t we just burn them?”

Lin Bei shrugged. “We tried everything—cutting with swords and axes, water and fire attacks. Nothing worked. I consulted experts who said only the Samadhi True Fire can handle them. Do you know how to use it?”

Kuang Tianyou shook his head. The Samadhi True Fire specifically countered his kind of anomaly; if he knew it, that would be strange.

Zombies of the Pangu lineage are still restrained before evolving into red-eyed zombies.

Lin Bei continued, “I’ve sent for a master, but until then, someone needs to stay here to guard the place. That’s why I asked you. Ordinary Taoist priests or monks coming here would be walking to their deaths.”

Kuang Tianyou glanced at the two ancient zombies again and said, “I can agree, but before that, I have some family matters to attend to.”

Lin Bei raised an eyebrow. “You mean Kuang Fusheng?”

Kuang Tianyou nodded. “Exactly. Since you know I’m a zombie, you should understand he’s like me.”

Lin Bei smiled. “Then you don’t have to go. I’ve already arranged someone to pick him up.”

Just as Kuang Tianyou was about to say that Kuang Fusheng wouldn’t leave with just anyone, a familiar voice rang out.

“Dad!”

---

Kuang Tianyou turned and saw Kuang Fusheng bounding excitedly toward him.

Recalling what he just said, Kuang Tianyou felt a bit embarrassed. Thankfully, his sunglasses hid his expression.

Seeing his silence, Lin Bei’s lips curled slightly. “You two can stay temporarily in my villa until these two ancient zombies are eliminated. There’s plenty of food, and if you need anything else, just ask. Do you need me to help you get leave from the station?”

Kuang Tianyou shook his head. “No need. I’ll call back myself. Besides, I haven’t taken a break in a long time.”

Lin Bei thought about it. Someone like Kuang Tianyou, neither aging nor needing to eat, drink, or use the restroom, lacked nothing except time. Only by keeping busy could he feel alive.

A workaholic like him asking for leave would rarely be refused by any boss with a shred of decency.

Yet, Kuang Tianyou was actually refused.

When he told Lin Bei about it, he was utterly speechless.

Lin Bei suddenly remembered that Kuang Tianyou’s boss Liu Hai was a weirdo—one of those who would mercilessly squeeze every last drop from a sheep.

Shaking his head, Lin Bei called Li Wenbin, the head of the Organized Crime Unit.

He didn’t explain why, only said he wanted to borrow Kuang Tianyou for a few days, and Li Wenbin immediately agreed.

Li Wenbin owed Lin Bei a great favor. When an undercover agent under Lin Bei had to leave Hong Kong Island for special reasons, Lin Bei had stepped in to help with arrangements.

This meant Li Wenbin no longer needed to use special methods to pay these men, avoiding the risk of their pensions being cut unexpectedly if Liu Jiehui later reduced expenses.

With a stable life and income, it was much harder to persuade these men to cause trouble.

As the head of the Organized Crime Unit, Li Wenbin had significant face, not to mention his father was the first Chinese chief of the Hong Kong Police and still in office.

Anyone wanting to refuse Li Wenbin had to consider whether they could bear the consequences.

Soon enough, Liu Hai’s call came back.

Not only did he approve Kuang Tianyou’s leave, but he also tried to probe into his relationship with Li Wenbin.

Kuang Tianyou was too tired to deal with it and simply hung up. After all, Liu Hai wouldn’t dare fire him, and much of his rapid promotion was due to Kuang Tianyou’s quick case-solving.
