After Ghost Mountain finished speaking, I immediately understood his meaning. The two individuals he mentioned must be the ones Master had dragged into the Nether Gate. Master looked at Ghost Mountain with a cold smile and said, “Those two have already been erased by me. You’d better tell the truth now and not test my patience.”

Without giving Ghost Mountain any chance to respond, Master pointed the Azure Lotus Sword directly at his neck. Ghost Mountain trembled, glanced downward, and said, “Don’t make a move. I’ll talk. That ordinary person is in the twenty-eighth spot along the Inner Path of West Mountain. It was their own idea to capture him.”

Master lowered the Azure Lotus Sword, furrowing his brow. “Their own idea? Be clearer.”

“Well, since our actions were discovered by that ordinary person, we watched his every move. At that time, in the squad I sent, there were two face-twin ghosts. When they learned that Cao Wen wanted to ask for help, they captured him and brought him back. I didn’t interfere. That’s all.”

“Just that simple?” Master asked.

Ghost Mountain nodded. Suddenly, Master smiled and said, “This story is a bit ridiculous. Just because someone found out about you, you want to capture him back for revenge? Ah, I wonder how your ghost path has become so childish.”

Ghost Mountain gave a bitter smile. “Tan Boqing, I’ve said all I need to say. You promised to let me go.”

Master was stunned. “When did I say I’d let you go? I only said I’d give you a chance.”

Ghost Mountain was taken aback and shouted irritably, “Tan Boqing, you... you’re playing me.”

Master looked at me and suddenly smiled. I shrugged and leaned against the wall. Then Master turned back to Ghost Mountain and said, “Alright, get lost. Don’t let me see you again, or you’ll only get one chance.”

After Master finished, Ghost Mountain’s face brightened with joy. He nodded profusely and hurried off with his two companions. Master ignored them, waved the Azure Lotus Sword, and vanished.

Master then came over and tried to support me as we moved forward. I waved him off and said, “Master, I can walk myself.”

Master smiled and nodded. Together, we headed toward the Lock Dragon Well exit. On the way, I asked curiously, “Master, what exactly are face-twin ghosts?”

Master walked ahead, speaking as he went, “They’re ghosts born together. Their defining feature is that they have no faces. Oh, just like those two you saw in the hotel last time.”

After hearing this, I suddenly understood and nodded. I remembered the little ghost “Huan Fang” mentioned those faceless fierce spirits that night. Looking ahead, the path was already faintly lit. Master shook his head, hands behind his back, and said, “Here we are, the exit. I’m going to toss you up first.”

I nodded, then froze in disbelief. “You said what? Toss me up?”

Master glanced at me and nodded. I was stunned again. “So, I’m a ball?”

“If only you were a ball, then I wouldn’t even need to throw you.” Master’s words struck me like lightning thrice. I sighed helplessly and nodded. We arrived at the Lock Dragon Well exit. I looked up toward the well’s mouth; outside, it seemed to be broad daylight. Ghost Mountain and the others were long gone. Master stood with his hands on his hips, staring at the well’s opening. “Kid, are you ready?”

I nodded, forcing a bitter smile. Master said “Good,” rolled up his sleeves, and was about to toss me out when I stepped back awkwardly and said, “Master, your throwing isn’t very reliable. I’ll climb out myself.”

Master paused and scrutinized me. “You can manage?”

I rolled my eyes. My head no longer pained as before. I raised my hand; the black and white twin fish flew out and landed beneath my feet. I stepped onto them. Master was stunned. “Alright, awkward moment.”

Then the twin fish gently lifted me out of the Lock Dragon Well. Clutching the edge, I kicked off and jumped out. Master followed and landed steadily. The glaring sunlight hurt my eyes. The lingering headache worsened under the harsh light. I instinctively rubbed my forehead, frowning. Master stood beside me, patting my shoulder. “You alright, kid?”

I waved him off. Master said, “Come on, you can’t be like this. Let’s go to the hospital.”

I waved again. Master was puzzled. I looked up, frowning. “Master, I’m fine. Just a headache. No other discomfort. Some headache medicine and a good sleep will do.”

Master considered for a moment, then nodded. As we prepared to move on, suddenly a noise came from behind. I turned sharply; Master also looked back. A young man was leaning against the wall, stirring slightly. I focused and recognized him—wasn’t that Li Muyang? Master was surprised too. He approached and tapped Li Muyang’s face. “Hey, Li Muyang, wake up, wake up.”

Under Master’s call, Li Muyang gradually woke, rubbing his eyes groggily. “Is it time to eat?” he mumbled.

“Eat what, ghost? Hey, I told you to go back, why are you still here?” Master said, exasperated.

Li Muyang opened his eyes and, seeing us, sprang up. “Senior, you’re back.”

Master nodded and pointed at Li Muyang. “What’s going on? Didn’t I tell you to go back first?”

Li Muyang glanced behind him. “Hehe, I was just waiting for you guys to come back. Had nothing else to do, so I slept here. It’s not like I haven’t slept on the streets before.”

Master rolled his eyes. “How long have we been down there?”

Li Muyang pulled out his phone and checked the time. “Uh… about one day, three hours, and forty-five minutes.”

I was stunned. “Damn, how are you so precise? Has it really been that long?”

Li Muyang scratched his head and chuckled. Master glanced at Li Muyang’s phone and said, “You’ve really been waiting here all that time?”

Master repeated the time aloud. Li Muyang nodded blankly. Master slapped his forehead and sighed. “Brother, you’re really loyal.”

“Hehe, Senior, my grandfather taught me since I was young that loyalty and filial piety must both be fulfilled.”

“Your grandfather?” Master asked curiously.

Li Muyang was surprised. “Oh, it’s the grandfather who brought me back to the Qi family before. He’s very kind to me, so I consider him my grandfather.”

Master nodded and said, “Alright, you guys go back to the hotel first and freshen up. You’re covered in dust. Later, I’ll take you back to the Qi family and have some matters to discuss with your head.”

Li Muyang nodded. We all hailed a taxi and headed straight to the hotel. When we passed the Inner Path of West Mountain, Master got out first and told the driver to take us back to the hotel. I knew what Master was up to and didn’t ask further.

After arriving at the hotel, Li Muyang turned to me. “Wow, Lin Xuan, you and Senior stay in such a nice place? Which floor?”

I looked at the hotel lobby and said, “Sixth floor. Not high. Let’s go.”

Li Muyang looked as if he’d never seen the world, nodding eagerly as he scampered inside. Watching his retreating figure, I sighed. At that moment, I was more embarrassed and speechless than ever.

I shook my head and walked to the stairwell. Li Muyang was already standing by the elevator, pointing at it. “You’re not taking the elevator?”

I shook my head. “Stairs. Exercise.”

“Uh, okay then. I’ll take the elevator and enjoy life.”

Li Muyang’s words made me laugh bitterly. I smiled helplessly and climbed to the sixth floor.
